1 My Journey Began

My journey began when I left Michigan and flew northeast towards Canada. I was searching for a home of my own. During the journey, I came across a place with a lush green escarpment and beautiful waterfalls. I continued north and spotted a castle down below. I decided to make a landing. Perched on top of the castle, I looked in all directions. A bay was behind me and the escarpment was straight ahead. A sign nearby had welcomed me to the City of Hamilton. I had a feeling this place would become my new home.

I flew east towards the downtown area. There were many unfamiliar buildings to discover, so many different places to perch and observe the world around me. I came across a duck-shaped logo on the side of a building. This became my favourite perching spot. I was less vulnerable here than on top of buildings. Too many annoying gulls would dive bomb me while I’m up there. While continuing on with my exploration of this new city, I noticed a bird flying quickly toward me. My adrenaline kicked in at the possibility that this was a hawk coming to attack. “Eechip!” The bird shouted in excitement. He started to dance in the air as a way to impress me and I stared in amazement. He is a Peregrine Falcon like me! I liked his aerial displays and chose this falcon named Ossie as my mate.
